Titans-Steelers game, College Football Picks, and more

The NFL is finally here! They had the perfect game to start the new season off with as well. The Pittsburgh Steelers, the defending Super Bowl champs, at home against the Tennessee Titans, who actually manhandled the Steelers in a big regular season game last year 31-13.

In that game, the Steelers took offense of some of the Titans players, including Lendale "Fats" White, stepping on the yellow Steeler towels that their fans wave at the stadium. They also took offense to, and most All-Universe S Troy Polamalu, when RB Chris Johnson waved the ball right at his grill last year scoring a touchdown. This game was going to be more physical than a San Francisco bathhouse (oops).

The anticipation did not disappoint. There was not much scoring in the game, but the battle in the trenches, and the hard hitting kept this game at a very high level of excitement for the casual person to keep watching. We all know the diehard junkie fans will always watch a game like this that is basically the equivalence of a pitcher's duel in baseball, but the intense hitting and physicality of the game was enough to keep the common putz at the bar to watch. The game went to overtime, where the Steelers prevailed 13-10.

Now, lets review some of the parts of the game.

- Pittsburgh is in trouble. They cannot run the ball, and it seemed that Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall were almost afraid to hit the hole at full speed. They better fixed this because if Big Ben takes another beating like this, he will have Hawkeye and Pierce from M.A.S.H looking over him at a hospital bed.

- As good and dominant as the Titans defensive line was early, do you think they missed Albert Haynesworth late in that game? They got tired, and when it mattered most, they could not get in the same zip code of Big Ben.

- Polamalu is great, and if he is hurt for a long period of time, the Steelers need to weather that storm, but man did he take quite a few bad penalties in that first half. Fantasic interception though, one handed.

- Not a bad debut for Titans 1st Round draft pick, WR Kenny Britt. He had that huge catch before halftime that set up Tennessee's only TD.

- What a greedy bonehead Hines Ward was there. Less than 90 seconds left in the game, and you catch a pass around the 15 yard line in a tie game, JUST TAKE A KNEE! You are in Field Goal range to win the game. What did this scholar do? Tries to juke and run into the endzone and be a hero. Egg all over your face Ward.
I do not want to hear another clown tell me how Hines Ward is such a gritty, great player and leader for a long time. If that happened in the Super Bowl, it would be on the same level as Chris Webber trying to call a phantom timeout in the NCAA Finals.

- Big Ben Roethlisberger takes a beating, but he makes some serious plays as well. That pump-fake he has is almost as good as new Memphis Grizzles Foward Sam Young's pump fake on his jumpshot. Ben rang off how many straight completions late in the game? 11? 12?

Now, for the college football picks, lets recap my record from last week first. We went 4-7. OUCH! It was the first week, combined with the fact that I could not buy ice in the winter last weekend in picks.

Here are this weeks picks:

Penn St. 41, Syracuse 7- Come on. Can I have just one gimmie pick? The Orange played solid last week, but reality hits them in the face this week, with QB Daryl Clark and crew smacking them around.

North Carolina 20, UConn 13- This game will be closer than the Tar Heels would like it to be, but they just have too many athletes to contend with compared to the young Huskie program. UConn is also 1-13 against ranked opponents.

Oklahoma St. 48, Houston 27- The Cowboys were slowed down by Georgia's defense last week, but Houston does not bring in the same SEC level athletes. Okie St. should run and pass the pigskin up and down the field all day.

TCU 31, Virginia 0- Yes, that is right. I think The Horned Frogs put up a frosted donut on UVA. Virginia lost to William and Mary last week. No, that was not me joking as well. This game has bloodbath written all over it.

West Virginia 27, East Carolina 24- Revenge game from last year, as the Moutaineers will seek it after being upsetted at ECU. No Pat White this time around, and East Carolina is considered a sleeper non-BCS team, but I think RB Noel Devine will have a big game.

Notre Dame 28, Michigan 17- I gotta admit, this game is now intriguing me. Both came out like gangbusters last week, even against weak competition, and played like it was 1991 again. I hate to say it, but , Jimmy Claussen for Heismann? There is a big school-big name QB vacancy now with the other 2 standing Amigos.

Tennessee 23, UCLA 16- Lane Kiffin's debut could not have been any better. This was an Ugly Betty game last year, I expect some of the same, but with both programs needing to grind out a big non-conference win. I feel Vols DB Eric Berry taking one to the house.

Gerogia 13, South Carolina 9- This game was a low scoring game last year, and that was with both teams have inferior defenses to this season, and 2 of the top 12 NFL picks playing for the Bulldogs. Both have inept offense, very good defenses. Alot of punting in this game.

Purdue 42, Oregon 38- I just cannot justify taking the Ducks after last weeks national horror show. Even without future MMA star LeGarrette Blount, the Ducks will score on Purdue. This is my upset pick.

USC 24, Ohio St. 9- I really thought the Buckeyes had a shot at this game at home. That was until I saw Navy shread the OSU defense. I was literally laughing at my TV set watching that game. Even with QB Terrelle Pryor, I just cannot see the Buckeyes being able to deal with the speed of the Trojans, on both sides of the ball. Expect USC to stuff the running game right down Ohio St.'s gullet.

Last, a few other things going on in sports...

- Stop your crying Richard Seymour, and report to the Raiders. You are a professional athlete, that makes millions of dollars a year (4 million to season). Play your one season in hell, then hit the potentially uncapped 2010 offseason, and strike gold. You are acting on the same level as Michael Crabtree right now.

-Let me get this straight, you are a Hotel Manager at Marriot in Manhattan, and you have basically the toast of the town staying at your hotel for the time that she is playing in the US Open, and you kick her out of the hotel after her reservation was up? How was this good public relations for Marriot to make Melanie Oudin and her family leave the hotel after the reservation was up? Seriously, that scholar should get a clue, and be looking for a new job.

- It really does look like the World Series will have Albert Pujols in Yankee Stadium huh? I cannot wait for that potential series.

NFL Preview and Predictions- NFC and Super Bowl

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles 11-5
New York Giants 10-6
Dallas Cowboys 8-8
Washington Redskins 6-10

The Eagles have been in the media alot lately because of the signing of dog lover Michael Vick, but this team did go to the NFC Title game last year. This team has alot of weapons on the offensive side of the ball. QB Donovan Mcnabb cannot complain anymore. He has alot of speed on each side of the field now with WRs DeSean Jackson and rookie Jeremy Maclin. Injuries are the key to this team, as they will miss MLB Stewart Bradley on defense, but at least if RB Brian Westbrook goes down this year, the Eagles drafted Westbrook clone, LeSean Mccoy.

The New York football Giants are the pure defintion of smashmouth football. Overall, they probaly have the best combination of Off and Def. lines in all of football. They have a great punishing RB in Brandon Jacobs and a nasty defense that can be at times intimidating. The only thing keeping this team from winning the divison is QB Eli Manning having no real deep threat at WR and having a severe horseface. Im sorry, but the guy looks like something that runs at Belmont Race Track on a Thursday afternoon. All kidding aside, if somebody emerges to be that WR, this team is dangerous.

Even Jerry Jones said the TO soap opera was enough for him after last season. Now, the Cowboys will go back to running the ball alot with RB Marion Barber and Felix Jones, who looked like a God out there before he got hurt last season. I also saw the Oklahoma-BYU game, and I got to give it to Jones, he does have a palace of a new stadium. Shame it see the playoffs for the second straight season.

This is really a make or break season for the Redskins. Owner Daniel Synder brought in DT Albert Haynesworth and drafted DE/OLB Brian Orakpo to help a defense that was very good last season. The only problem is, Synder did not help the other side of the ball, where QB Jason Campbell is now in basically purgatory after Synder publicly went after Cutler and trading up for Sanchez. This whole team is on watch if 2010 is an uncapped season. Imagine what Synder will do then? He spent 174 million this offseason with a cap.

NFC North

Chicago Bears 11-5
Green Bay Packers 10-6
Minnesota Viknigs 7-9
Detroit Lions 3-13

It is really a tossup between the Bears and Packers for this divison. I am taking the Bears to win the divison though, based on the QB play of the new face of the franchise Jay Cutler, and a better defense than the Packers. The Bears gave up 2 1st round picks, Kyle Orton, four livers, and eight kidneys to bring to strong armed Cutler, and he will immediately make RB Matt Forte into a star, because teams cannot line up 8 defenders in the box anymore.

I really do like the Packers, alot too. I think QB Aaron Rodgers is going to become the next QB to be talked about in the Manning-Brady air. The offense is going to score a ton of points. I just do not trust the defense going into the 3-4 from the 4-3 this season. It always takes at least a year to adapt to such a drastic change in scheme like that. The Pack did draft accordingly to their needs, I just think the defense is one year away, and one injury to old CB's Charles Woodsen and Al Harris away from a mess.

Yes, I am shitting on the Vikings. They have the best non-QB player in the world in RB Adrian Peterson and a fantasic defense, led by DE Jared Allen. I just cannot see The Days of Our Favre running smoothly. I mean seriously, what soap opera ever does? My prediction, Favre throws more Interceptions than touchdowns, and makes up 245 different excuses for the outcome.

At least the Lions will be improved. It will not take much, just one win. It will be another long year in the Motor City, but do not fear, they are headed in the right direction. Out is comedy punchline Matt Millen, and the new front office brought in a tough as nails Head Coach in, Jim Schrawtz. I just hope #1 overall pick QB Matthew Stafford is not Joey Harrington deja vu all over again. Word of advice Lions, keep this kid protected!

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons 11-5
New Orleans Saints 9-7
Carolina Panthers 8-8
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4-12

Speaking of rebuilding teams, the Falcons has drawn out the blueprints on how to succeed. After the whole Michael Vick/Bobby Petrino fiascos, the Falcons brought in GM Thomas Dimitrioff, and he took a horrid oraganization and rebuilt it on the fly. QB Matt Ryan had a tremdous rookie season, and has TE Tony Gonzalez to throw the ball to after an offseason trade. This is another team that will score, and score often.

Speaking of points, the Saints just do not stop scoring. The only problem is, they can't stop anyone as well. I just do not see how the Saints can have a mid-tier defense to take the pressure off of star QB Drew Brees and Co. Another thing, please just end the Reggie Bush era. He is one year away, or another bitch injury away from being one of the five biggest busts in NFL Draft history.

There are alot of questions that need to be answered about the Panthers. Is Jake Delhomme still a solid QB? Was that insane running game a mirage? Will DE Julius Peppers sulk about his contract status, eventhough hes making what this year..... 16-17 million? One thing is clear in Carolina though, MLB Jon Beason is an absolute beast and tackling machine.

This is a major rebuilding year for the Bucs, and first year Head Coach Raheem Morris. The only player left from those great teams and defenses is CB Ronde Barber, with the departure of OLB Derrick Brooks. With alot of young players in camp this season, Morris just wants to set his philosophies in place. First Round pick QB Josh Freeman will eventually get playing time by the mid-season and Morris will see what he has to work with.

NFC West

Seattle Seahawks 10-6
Arizona Cardinals 9-7
San Francisco 49ers 7-9
St. Louis Rams 4-12

The Seahawks last season were hammered by injuries. This season, it seems that QB Matt Hasselback and crew are all back. The FA signing of WR TJ Houshmandzadeh is huge for Hasselback, as he now has a go-to-guy. The defense will be much improved with DE Patrick Kerney returning from surgery and top draft pick OLB Aaron Curry. New Head Coach Jim Mora Jr. inherited a potentially dangerous team.

The defending NFC champs will be better on defense this season, but that is not much to rave about. The Cardinals gave up 35 points or more in a game in 5 games, and gave up 36 TD passes. I am just worried about the Cardinals lack of running game, and QB Kurt Warner. Last year was like a leap year with him, not getting injured. I just can't see him staying healthy for two straight seasons.

Mike Singletary had the 49ers playing very good football at the end of last season. He is on the right course to get this franchise back into the playoffs, it is just not going to be this season. Having first round draft pick WR Michael Crabtree not signed yet is a major blow to a team that needs playmakers. They are now relying too heavily on RB Frank Gore, eventhough the 49ers Off. Line is below average.

Lastly, the Rams last year were pathetic. No other way of putting it. They did bring in the right guy to coach in Steve Spagnuolo. He will bring an attacking defensive scheme and running game that will be the exact opposite of the last decade's Greatest Show on Turf. RB Stephen Jackson is a freak of nature, but he has to stay healthy.

Playoffs:

Wild Card Round: Seattle Seahawks over Green Bay Packers
New York Giants over Chicago Bears

Divisonal Round: Philadelphia Eagles over New York Giants
                           Seattle Seahawks over Atlana Falcons

NFC Conf Round: Seattle Seahawks over Philadelphia Eagles

Finally...

Super Bowl: Baltimore Ravens over Seattle Seahawks

NFL Preview and Predictions-AFC

AFC East

New England Patriots 13-3
Miami Dolphins 8-8
New York Jets 7-9
Buffalo Bills 5-11

The Pats run away with this divison by Week 6, although trading DL Richard Seymour really does hurt their Super Bowl chances this season. Tom Brady airs it out all over the place and Randy Moss and Wes Welker both have Pro Bowl seasons. If the Pats get any sort of running game, expect them to put up 500 points this season and they will look like a video game on offense.

The Dolphins had a very nice run last season, and they are well-coached. Only problem is, the schedule gets tougher this year and you can not expect career years again from Chad Pennington and Joey Porter. OT Jake Long, last years #1 overall pick is a stud, and will be taking his annual trip to Hawaii.

The Jets are the team of the future in this divison. New Head Coach Rex Ryan brings an attitude to this team that was much needed. They will field a top defense this season, but rookie QB Mark Sanchez will have his growing pains. Expecting Matt Ryan in this situation is asking for too much. This team in 2010 though, especially in a potential uncapped season, watch out.

How do I say this without hurting anyones feelings? The Bills are a mess. They have one of the worst Head Coaches in football in Dick Jauron, their best player, RB Marshawn Lynch is suspended for the first 3 games, and they decide to bring in the 2nd biggest soap opera in the NFL next to Brett "Days of Our" Favre, in Terrell Owens. And to top it off, their recently fired Off. Coordinator told the media that Jauron basically wanted a Pop Warner Football offense. Expect a long, cold season up north.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens 12-4
Pittsburgh Steelers 11-5
Cincinnati Bengals 7-9
Cleveland Browns 3-13

The Ravens lost some players on defense, especially LB Bart Scott, S Jim Leonhard, and of course, Def. Coordinator Rex Ryan to the Jets this offseason, but with LB Ray Lewis and S Ed Reed out on the field, they basically already have two coaches out on the field. The offense will be much improved with QB Joe Flacco getting more exerience and the emergence of RB Ray Rice, who looked great in the preseason.

The defending champs are still going to be a mjor threat. The Steelers bring back one of the staunchest defenses the league has ever seen, led by OLB James Harrison and S Troy Polamalu. I am just worried that the running game is not entirely there, and Big Ben is due for a lengthy 3-5 game absence from all the hits he take in the pocket for keeping the ball in his hands too long.

This is a big season for Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis. This team has underachieved for several seasons, and may be on the hot seat for his job. He does get back QB Carson Palmer, who was hurt most of last season. The only person even more happy to have Palmer back then Lewis, is WR Chad "Twitter" Ocho Cinco, who should have a solid bounce back season. They are at least fun to watch on HBO though.

This year in Cleveland, we get to see Round two of Man-Genius. New Head Coach Eric Mangini comes over from New York to attempt to clean up this mess. Only one thing, he has probably already this mess even worse by getting maybe 65 cents on the dollar for the 5th overall pick that wound up being Mark Sanchez, questionable drafting, and not even announcing a starting QB until the last second. Brady Quinn should win the job, but we will have to deal with Braylon Edwards with the dropzees, and RB Jamal Lewis hitting the hole slower than a stoner thinks.

AFC South

Indianpolis Colts 11-5
Houston Texans 10-6
Tennessee Titans 9-7
Jacksonville Jaguars 5-11

QB Peyton Manning and the Colts have their hands full this season. This is by far the toughest divison in the AFC, and Manning has to go this season for the first time without Canton-bound WR Marvin Harrison. He still does have WR Reggie Wayne and TE Dallas Clark to toss the pigskin to. Rookie RB Donald Brown takes Joseph Addai's starting spot by Week 5 and shines.

The Texans are the "it" team to finally take that rise up to playoff status. They have a ton of firepower on offense with QB Matt Schaub, RB Steve Slaton, and All-World WR Andre Johnson. The keys for this team is simple. Can DE Mario Williams and Co. keep teams to 20 points a game? Can Schaub stay healthy? If both answers are yes, they could take the divison. If both answers are no, then probaly another 8-8 season.

The Titans come into this season losing their best player in DT Albert Haynesworth to Washington, when he signed a contract that will pay him enough to eat cheeseburgers for the rest of his days. They have a tough schedule to boot, having to play both teams from last years Super Bowl, in Pittsburgh and Arizona, plus New England, Seattle, and San Diego the final week of the season. The Titans will have to grind out wins this season, but they are use to that.

I do not think Jags Head Coach Jack Del Rio survives this season. The Jags have alot of question marks on both sides of the ball, and they are really putting all the weight on the shoulders of RB Maurice Jones Drew. The offensive line is going to be kind of green as well, with the Jags taking OL in the draft, including 1st round pick, Eugene Monroe.

AFC West

San Diego Chargers 13-3
Oakland Raiders 7-9
Kansas City Chiefs 5-11
Denver Broncos 4-12

This divison is all Chargers. If they do not go at least 5-1 within this divison, there should be a firing line on the coaching staff. The offense is just loaded, with QB Phillip Rivers, RB LaDainian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates, and WR Vincent Jackson. The defense should be much improved with having a full training camp under Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera and getting back OLB Shawne Merriman back from injury. They may lose him by Week 5 to a new strain of herpes though after encountering Tila Tequila though.

After the Chargers, it is like getting second place by default. We will go with the Raiders. Yes, I know they are a joke of an organization, but lets look at the positives for a change. They can run the ball effectively. They do have the best CB in football in Nnamdi Asomugha, and they just traded for DL Richard Seymour, who will help the DLine emmensely, both on and off the field.

Kansas City is going in the right direction, but it will take some time. They got their QB in Matt Cassel, and they are rebuilding that defense the right way, but that OLine is young and pretty awful. Actually, losing TE Tony Gonzalez to Atlanta via trade hurts Cassel the most, as he would've had a safety net.

Now, the Broncos are a team that is not going in the right direction. New Head Coach Josh "Mini-Belichick" Mcdaniels has flipped this franchise upside down in a few months. He handled the Jay Cutler situation poorly, and now, he may be doing an even worse job with WR, and crybaby Brandon Marshall. The defense is going into the 3-4 this season, and Mcdaniels does not have the personnel yet for that scheme to be successful. It is going to be a long season in Denver, at least they will get a potential Top 5 pick right? Oops, did Mcdaniels screw that one up as well? That pick is Seattle's.

Playoffs:

Wild Card Round: Indianpolis Colts over Pittsburgh Steelers

                            Baltimore Ravens over Houston Texans

Divisonal Round: San Diego Chargers over Indianpolis Colts

Baltimore Ravens over New England Patriots

AFC Conf. Champ.: Baltimore Ravens over San Diego Chargers

LeGarrette Blount, Shawne Merriman, other Tidbits

I am going to quote Richard Dryfuess from the move "Let It Ride".

"God likes me! He really, really likes me!"

I just start a blog a week ago, and I get Oregon RB Legarrette Blount tossing the best right cross punch since Kermit Washington. Not only does he do that, he then attempts to fight a teammate, and then finally, tries to go postal on the Boise crowd.

And just when I was about to put my post out for that, I see this bit of news:

"NFL's Merriman arrested, accused of choking Tila Tequila"
God must really, really like me.

Lets start with Blount. First off, let me just say this. Blount is not playing with a full deck. The guy has been suspended for his behavior in the past. He was the main Oregon Duck that did the trash talking weeks before this game even started. He may be a nutjob, but he is a talented nutjob. At 6'1" 240 pounds with good speed, he sounds like Giants RB Brandon Jacobs.

Blount goes into this national game with a potential darkhorse Heisman run in him, and a live audition for the NFL Scouts to elevate his draft stock, and overall, make more money. Boise St. basically crippled his slim Heisman hopes and cost him a good chunk of change in the Draft by holding him to less than nothing in the game. Blount ran his mouth by how Oregon "owes them an ass-whooping", and he could not cash that check. In his eyes, that is rather embarrassing.

We all saw what happened after the end of the game. I am not condoning what Blount did. He got suspended for the year, and his NFL dreams are more slim than Nicole Ritchie's waistline. That punishment was harsh, but the right one to give out.

It is obvious that Blount's temper has a shorter fuse than an Oompa Loompa, considering that  he wanted to jump into a crowd of thousands and take them on like he were Rambo. There is one thing I will give Blount.

Boise State's Bryon Hout deserved what he got.

See, here is where the the general public goes, "WTF?", and the silent majoity says, "Hell yes!"

It is no secret that Blount is basically a ticking timebomb. Your defense and team just smoked, and I do mean smoked Oregon for the ESPN-minions to see all over the country, so instead of celebrating with your teammates, with half the state of Idaho jumping on the field in a Varisty Blues kind of way, Hout decides that the best thing to do was to taunt Blount, after the fact that his team already administered a beatdown.

That is what most people call a goating scumbag.

Yes, I apologize for my language, but can we be blunt for a second? (No pun intended there).Blount lost alot that night, even before the entire riot. Awards, draft status, potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars could've been lost by Blount in that one game. Boise St. made their point, threw Blount's own trash-talking right back in his grill. Bryon Hout did not think that was enough, so he tried to pour it on, not only by taunting Blount after the game, but putting his hands on him as well.

Well, bad mistake.

Blount's response to that was a missle of a right cross that landed flushed on Tout's jaw and dropped the scumbag. If Blount's football career is potentially over, I bet Dana White of MMA, Don King, and Oscar De La Hoya are potentially interested in a 240 pound guy that can toss a punch like that. Do not tell me that underneath your breath, you were watching the replays and were not thinking in your head, "That moron got what he deserved."

The best analogy to describe this would be a guy at a bar bragging to his friends that he was going to leave the bar that night with a woman, then the woman coming up to all of them tells him he has a better chance at seeing Jesus, verbally smacks him around a bit, and leaves by tossing a drink in his face. After all of this, some bystander at the bar turns around at the guy and laughs at him. What usually happens to that guy?

Blount then went onto try to fight a teammate, which was strike two on the night. Lastly, and I do not entirely blame Blount for this one, attempted to jump into the crowd at a bunch of volitaile Boise St. fans that were obviously tossing some seriously colorful quotes at Blount. (I do want to know if the Boise Stadium replayed the punch to encite the crowd into a boarderline riot. If anyone knows this for a fact, please email me or leave a comment.) People, just because you paid for the ticket, does not mean you have the right to say or do anything you want. I wouldve liked to seen if that clown in the stands wouldve said anything if there was not a boarder between him and Blount.

I also do not think Bryon Hout should be suspended for the taunt. He will be known as the rest of his life as the guy that got knocked out on national television for opening his big mouth. For the next five years, his face will be getting three million hits on YouTube. He probaly will not be able to go into a Burger King, without someone recognizing him and laughing at Hout. That alone, is enough punishment.

Next is Shawne Merriman.

This is just flat out embarrassing. Merriman gets arrested a week before the season starts over a skank like Tila Tequila? First off, you are a star in the NFL. You can get any woman you want, and you settle for a below average looking woman, who basically whored herself out to MTV for two years? Seriously, if I were in the same zip code as Tila Tequila, I would catch some sort of floating STD.

That is not the most embarrassing part though. Tila Tequila is how tall? Weighs how much? I would be doing her justice if I said she was 5'4" and 100 pounds. Ok, now how big is Shawne Merriman? Lets look that one up shall we.

Shawne Merriman is listed as 6'4" and 265 pounds.

For Merriman's sake, I hope that this was just blown out of proportion. A misunderstanding in a heated argument with Tequila, and she did what she knows best, and that is women. Ok, bad joke, what I really meant was, grabbing attention.

Because if this is not the case, and Merriman wrapped his mitts around a woman's neck that he outweighs by at least 150 pounds, he is then a coward. Why doesn't Merriman at least try to pick a fight with someone that is around 5'7" instead? Oh, that is right, Merriman still has nightmares about Maurice Jones-Drew laying him out on his back.

But if Merriman really has steroid.... oh, I am sorry, rage issues, I know a guy that close to your size that would fight you.

Legarrette Blount.

Few more tidbits about this weekend. I mean, not everything in sports was about violence.

- Sam Bradford just lost (In my best Dr. Evil voice) millllllllllllionssss of dollars with getting injured. The lesson, when you are going to be a top 5 pick in the NFL, just go into the Draft.

- There was been some horrible refereeing this weekend, but nothing takes the cake over what happened in the 4th quarter of that Georgia-Oklahoma St. game. In a close 17-10 game, Georgia S Reshead Jones flat out jacked up Oklahoma St WR Justin Blackmon cleanly over the middle. The outcome was a 15-yard personal foul penalty for a head to head hit. Jones didnt hit Blackmon's head, nor did he lead with his own head.
Three plays later, a Okie St. Touchdown to ice the game. Good job refs.

- If anyone is watching the US Open this weekend, 17 year old, and new American sweetheart Melanie Oudin upsetted Maria Shapapova in the 3rd round. During the match, all eyes and cameras were on Oudin. When was the last time Sharapova was anywhere and none of the cameras were flashing at her?
